I am tired of reading articles that lay it on the line saying how much you will have to sacrifice to grow your business. It doesn’t have to be that way.

The 2 key challenges
There are 2 key challenges that every business owner is faced with, and if you stay on top of them you can avoid the level of sacrifice everyone pins on having your own business.
Challenge #1 Using your time wisely.
To me the biggest sacrifice you can make is your time. If you allow yourself to mis-manage your time it will inevitably lead to you having to sacrifice more time to reach your desired level of growth.
That’s time that you could be spending with loved ones, time that you could be focusing on your health and wellbeing, but instead, by not focusing on your productivity, you have squandered that time and will now have to sacrifice some of it to keep your business moving.
Challenge #2 Making decisions.
It’s soooo easy to drag out decision making, but all you do by dragging it out is damage your business.
Sometimes the decisions are straightforward ones and sometimes they are a lot tougher, but remember you aren’t helping anyone by delaying it. In fact it could be having a very detrimental effect on your wellbeing by dragging it out.
Timely, decisive action will reduce your stress levels and benefit your business as it will usually improve your bottom line.
But what about the money?
Let’s be serious here…it’s not advisable to start a business unless you have some cash reserves to support you in those early months.
But, to be really clear, the length of time it takes to build your client base is totally down to you. No-one else but you.
If you play at your marketing and allow yourself to be a well kept secret you will struggle for longer and your level of sacrifice will go up.
If you grab the opportunity that having your own business gives you, and you build a compelling marketing message and get it out there in a big way, then there’s no reason why you can’t build a sustainable business as quickly as you want.
There’s so much free help available online there is no reason why this isn’t achievable (read my wealth of blogs for all the advice you’ll ever need).
It’s easy to say it but hard to do it
One of the biggest errors I see businesses make is to know they should make a change but then put if off because they don’t think they have the time to do it.
This causes them to stay in perpetual groundhog day.
Have you done that?
As soon as they break that cycle their business goes from strength to strength and the level of sacrifice falls away.
- What sacrifices are you making right now to grow your business?
- Does it have to be that way?
- What can you do to spend less time to get the same results?
- What good decisions can you make today to improve your business?
It all starts with a decision…!
