I
meet numerous business owners who are worried about marketing their business. It’s rare that this is because they aren’t sure how to do it, but usually because they are concerned about their ability to deal with the increased demand for their services/products. This usually results in them deciding not to take any action, and so, unsurprisingly they don’t grow their business even though this is their aim for the year. Sound familiar?
OK, so how do you break out of this cycle? As usual this is an obvious answer…you take action.
I have never yet seen the tidal wave of response to a marketing campaign that has resulted in a business being overwhelmed and failing to deliver. Think about it for a minute…you have total control over how you manage this situation. You are the one controlling the marketing “tap” so you can control the speed at which you let the world know you exist, plus you get to manage the expectations of how quickly you fulfil the needs of your newly acquired customers.
Depending on the type of services/products you supply you can put in place an overflow outsourced provider who is prepared to help you fulfil the orders and still badge them under your brand.
Service-based businesses can look at working with new customers on a group basis rather than 1-2-1, or simply use a waiting list approach (which actually will support your credibility).
You can improve your processes and so create more time to deliver your services. The list of options to manage this risk is actually pretty long.
The bottom line is that unless you proactively market your business you will struggle to grow it. Take action today…what new marketing channel are you going to explore to help you grow your business, and how can you manage the increased number of orders? Just remember, you have the ability to control this situation and grow your business.
