Step Out of Your Comfort Zone – Service Business Academy

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

The best way to grow your business generally involves pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Hopefully the goals you have set for 2013 will involve you stretching yourself (see my earlier blog on why this is important) so will require you to step out of your comfort zone. Have you taken any steps towards that yet?  The end of January is nearly upon us and with business decision making being very slow during the summer months, the Christmas slow-down that starts in mid-November, and the Easter holiday fortnight, that means we have approximately 7 months left to achieve business growth.  The bulk of that time falls between now and the end of June (now there’s a reality check) this basically means you need to build momentum now otherwise there is a good chance you will struggle to achieve your business goals for the year.

So what action are you going to take to push yourself to grow your business?

I have several strands of business growth that I’m focussing on until the end of March.  One of them includes doing more networking. I network reasonably extensively but at groups where I am now established and definitely in my comfort zone, so my big push was to find some new networking events with different businesses.  Like most people I do not enjoy walking into a room full of people I don’t know so I really have to push myself to do it.  Well I went to a new event today and had a really good time.  I meet a handful of good contacts (there were 85 people in the room but it was one of those events where you sit at a table and talk to the people next to you) and had a very positive experience.  I now have that added boost of positivity because I know I have stepped closer to achieving one of my goals.

Stepping out of your comfort zone can be a hugely positive experience and can lead to excellent business growth opportunities.  What steps are you going to make today to push yourself out of your comfort zone and nearer to your goals?
